Implementation Structure

We will introduce the implementation structure for Next-Generation Well-Being: Building Integrated Human Measurement and Modeling Technology Aimed at Individual Adaptation.

Project implementation structure

Under the leadership of Aoyama Gakuin University President, President, two Vice President, and the dean of the Faculty of Science College of Science and Engineering will oversee this project, strengthening the research support system within the administrative departments. Public relations activities regarding the project and research results will be carried out by the Policy Planning Department and Research Support Department in cooperation with the faculty members conducting the research. In addition, a dedicated University Research Administrator (URA) will be newly established in the Research Promotion Division to act as a bridge between industry, government, and academia, supporting the smooth implementation of the project. Under this structure, faculty members from the Faculty of Science and College of Science and Engineering and College of Education, Psychology and Human Studies, who have research achievements and collaborative research experience in the fields of health and welfare, knowledge education, and skills training, will work together with the administrative departments across the entire university to promote this project.
The research implementation structure will consist of a Measurement Division and an Individual Adaptation Division, under the leadership of the Research Representative [Kumagai], who will oversee the research. The Measurement Division will be comprised of the Biomedical Measurement Group [Lopez, Nozawa] and the Motion Measurement Group [Matsumoto, Kurihara], mainly composed of faculty members centered around the core members listed below. The Individual Adaptation Division will be comprised of the Modeling Group [Kumagai, Komiyama] and the Individual Adaptation Group [Sakuta, Yakushijin]. Furthermore, in order to facilitate the collaboration between groups which is essential for the advancement of the project, members from other groups will participate in each group to share information and cooperate in research. The faculty members who are core members of this project have published unique research both domestically and internationally, and have been actively conducting research, publishing 74 research papers related to this project, presenting 71 overseas presentations, obtaining 7 patents, and securing 36 external funding projects totaling 55.26 million yen over the past five years.

Furthermore, this project will be promoted by the participation of faculty members (4), young researchers (11 assistant professors), and graduate students (16) from each department in addition to these core members. The faculty members participating in this project will work with young researchers to tackle new technical challenges in order to achieve the project's objectives, based on the knowledge they have previously acquired through research in the fields of information engineering, management engineering, and psychology. In addition, with the aim of fostering the development of young researchers and graduate students through technical exchange and synergistic effects through this project, not only the core members but also the young researchers will proactively hold regular research meetings and reporting sessions.

An external evaluation committee will be established to assess the progress and results of this project from the perspectives of local government, industry, and academia. The external evaluation committee will include representatives Sagamihara City, OA Corporation, Arch Giken Co., Ltd., Aars Co., Ltd., WIN Frontier Co., Ltd., Professor Morikawa (University of Tokyo), and Associate Professor Kawahara (Open University of Japan). Within the university, an internal evaluation committee will be organized to provide an evaluation from a third-party perspective, and will conduct a review at the end of each fiscal year in conjunction with the external evaluation committee. Based on the results of this review, improvements will be made to the direction of the project.

This project, centered around Aoyama Gakuin University, will involve collaboration with local governments, companies, and domestic universities to disseminate research results to local communities, educational institutions, and industries. Regional deployment will focus on Sibuya Ward and Sagamihara City, where both Aoyama Gakuin University campuses are located, and the surrounding areas, applying the research to health and welfare and skills training fields. Deployment to educational institutions will target the Open University of Japan and Kitasato University, applying the research to knowledge education and health and welfare fields. Deployment to industry will target approximately five companies, including OA and WIN Frontier, applying the research to health and welfare, knowledge education, and skills training fields. Furthermore, overseas deployment will be pursued through joint research in the fields of knowledge education and health and welfare with Jean Monnet University (France), the University of Oulu (Finland), and Hradec Klarové University (Czech Republic).
