International students admitted to regular programs at Aoyama Gakuin University should carefully read cases A, B, and C below and follow the instructions for the applicable case to complete their residency procedures. Those who have passed the entrance examination for international students in undergraduate programs should also refer to the "Guidelines for International Student Admission Procedures."
*For those who already hold a "Student" residence status and whose residence permit expires after June of the enrollment year, no prior residence procedures are required. You will apply for an extension of your period of stay after enrollment.

• A. Those who already have a "Student" status of residence and whose status of residence expires by the end of May in the year of enrollment: "Application for Permission to Renew Period of Stay"
• B. Those who already have a residence status other than "Student" that allows mid- to long-term stay in Japan and wish to change to "Student" "Application for Permission to Change Residence Status"
• C. Those who do not have a visa or who have a "Temporary Visitor" visa: "Certificate of Eligibility"

For those planning to enroll in the undergraduate program

Foreign nationals who have been admitted to Aoyama Gakuin University Aoyama Gakuin University the entrance examination for international students (undergraduate) are required to have obtained the "Student" status of residence as defined in the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, or to have applied for a "Certificate of Eligibility for Residence Status" with the Immigration Services Agency of the Ministry of Justice, by the date specified in the "Guidelines for the Admission of International Students." Please also refer to the Guidelines for the Admission of International Students.

For those planning to enroll in graduate or Professional Graduate Schools

Changing your status of residence to "Student" is optional. If you wish to renew or obtain a "Student" status of residence, please follow the procedures A to C above. Although there is no set deadline for obtaining a "Student" status of residence, in order to take classes, you will need to obtain a status of residence that allows for mid- to long-term stay, including the "Student" status of residence.
*Most scholarships for international students both within and outside the university require a "study abroad" visa status.

Those who possess a residence card and who were enrolled in another university, vocational school, Japanese language school, etc. in Japan prior to enrolling Aoyama Gakuin University.

When graduating from another university or Japanese language school, you will need to submit a "Notification of Activity Institution (Withdrawal)" to the Immigration Services Agency, and when enrolling Aoyama Gakuin University, you will need to submit a "Notification of Activity Institution (Transfer)" to the Immigration Services Agency.
As explained during the orientation upon enrollment, please submit your application to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan via the website or by mail.
