Overview and Objectives of the Institute

School of Social Informatics The Center for Social Informatics Research was established on the Sagamihara campus with the aim of promoting academic research from multifaceted perspectives—including the social sciences, human sciences, information sciences, and mathematical sciences—in order to effectively solve various problems in social systems, without being constrained by traditional boundaries such as the natural sciences and the humanities.

To achieve this objective, the Center will undertake the following initiatives:
1) Planning, applying for, and managing educational and research projects
2) Organizing research seminars
3) Planning and conducting academic exchanges
4) Collection, organization, storage, and provision of relevant books and materials
5) Publication of research journals, etc.

Research projects are established for a duration of one to five years. Members of project teams may include researchers from the Graduate School of Social Information Studies (Aoyama Gakuin University School of Social Informatics), as well as external research fellows. Research findings are published in the Center’s annual journal, *Social Information Studies*.
