Some people may think that "law" is a field of study with set answers based on "justice." However, in reality, "law" is full of diversity. For example, the field of labor law, which I specialize in, is based on common ideas such as "freedom," "equality," "ensuring individual dignity," and "fair markets," but the systems vary greatly due to the working styles and career development systems in each country. Also, it is easy to imagine that justice as seen from the perspective of a working worker and justice as seen from the perspective of a company manager can sometimes differ (clash). One of the essences of "law" is to seek solutions based on the premise that different "justices" exist.
Some people may have the impression that learning in a "Faculty of Law" is just about memorizing rules set by law. However, learning in a "Faculty of Law" is not just about memorizing, but also requires a great deal of "thinking." When considering the solution to a case or a new policy, it is not uncommon for the ideal solution to differ depending on one's position (for example, between workers and companies). While keeping in mind basic rules (ultimately, freedom and equality), it is important to "think" about what kind of solution is appropriate, while keeping in mind that there are different ideas of justice depending on one's position. This is the academic endeavor of law, and what learning in Faculty of Law is all about. In that sense, learning in Faculty of Law is full of diversity and is always ongoing.
Aoyama Gakuin University University's Faculty of Law is not only for those who aim to become legal professionals through the bar exam or civil servants, but also for graduates who aim to pursue a wide variety of career paths. What's more, what you learn at the Faculty of Faculty of Law- understanding that justice differs depending on your position, searching for a solution that you believe to be correct, and expressing it to persuade others - is something you'll need as a member of society, no matter what path you choose, and you'll be able to make use of that experience.
We established a new "Department of Human Rights" in 2022. While learning in the "Department of Human Rights" is based on "human rights," which represents a universal value in law, the aim is to provide a more practical education that is more rooted in the field and an education that places a greater emphasis on "problem solving" through perspectives from diverse academic fields such as economics and sociology.

It is my hope that through your studies in Faculty of Law, you will acquire the ability to solve the various problems you will encounter in your future careers, and use this as a stepping stone to great success.

We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives of Aoyama Gakuin University 's Faculty of Law.

The School of Faculty of Law is based on the founding principles of Aoyama and aims to develop talented individuals who are equipped with a humble approach to the pursuit of truth, human qualities, and a foundation in law, and who can proactively and proactively address various problems and issues in society. In order to produce such talented individuals, the School of Law aims to conduct specialized research that responds to social issues and contributes to the realization of social fairness and justice.

Two-department system: "Department of Law" and Japan's first "Department of Human Rights"

糖心视频 LAW is a two-department Faculty of Law with a Department of Law and Department of Human Rights, which will open in April 2022. Both departments place emphasis on developing the ability to use logical and rational thinking to derive reasonable solutions to social issues, and offer small-group seminar courses not only in the third and fourth years but also in the first year. In addition, because law is created through political processes and the two are closely related, and because approaches from economics and public policy are also important in analyzing social issues, 糖心视频 LAW has organized a curriculum that emphasizes interdisciplinarity.
In Department of Law, students will acquire a wealth of systematic legal knowledge, from basic legal subjects to a wide variety of electives, and the skills to apply that knowledge in real life. Because the law is directly connected to all aspects of human life, a "legal mind" that correctly understands the law and can make fair and objective judgments is required in all areas of society. Through an international and practical curriculum, students will acquire the "wisdom" to solve problems with specialized knowledge and a sense of legal justice that are appropriate for their career paths after graduation.
Department of Human Rights is the first department in Japan where students can study human rights from the perspective of various academic fields, including law, with the goal of solving human rights issues. The protection of human rights is not only enshrined in the Constitution, the highest law of the country, but is also recognized as a universal value in the international community. This department offers a wide range of thematic subjects, such as business and human rights and gender and human rights, and students consciously learn how to utilize law in solving various human rights issues in society, while also taking an interdisciplinary approach to human rights from the perspectives of political science, economics, public policy, etc.
