  1. An international environment with nine full-time faculty members, three of whom are foreign, and many overseas internship students.

    The IT field is characterized by rapid globalization and technological innovation. Engineers are required to have the ability to understand technology in English and to have practical skills to build systems, not just understand theory. Aoyama Gakuin University has many faculty members who are foreigners or have field experience, so students can learn under international and practical guidance.

  2. Small group discussions and seminars

    Students are divided into groups based on their teacher, and after reading English study materials, they compile and present their findings in presentation materials. This allows students to develop the ability to read English literature, acquire presentation skills, and cultivate the ability to hold technical discussions.

  3. Extensive programming training

    Practical programming training is provided from the first year, and students will be trained to be able to create more advanced computer programs as they progress through the school year. Even if you have no programming experience before enrolling, there is no need to worry, as TAs (teaching assistants) will teach you carefully.

  4. Active student participation in practical research projects in collaboration with the Advanced Information Technology Research Center attached to the Faculty of Science College of Science and Engineering

    The Advanced Information Technology Research Center promotes cutting-edge research and educational activities in information science, focusing on four areas: human informatics, measurement and control, modeling and optimization, and computational intelligence. Students in Aoyama Gakuin University actively participate in practical research projects, primarily through collaboration with the center and other institutions both within and outside the university. High-performance computing servers and various measurement devices are available as shared facilities.

Multimedia Engineering

Multimedia systems are no longer limited to integrating audio and video. They can integrate a variety of signals available through the Internet of Things (IoT) and various feedback modalities. This course provides an overview of digital communication and data streams and introduces signal processing techniques. Mini-exercises are included in the class to ensure that students acquire this knowledge, which will be essential for IT engineers in the IoT society of the future.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has developed into a technology that processes human reasoning and judgments at an advanced level, and is being used in a variety of fields, including autonomous driving, medical diagnosis, and machine translation. In this class, students will learn the basic theories of AI, such as search, reasoning, knowledge representation, logic programming, machine learning, and deep learning, with the ultimate goal of acquiring the ability to use AI technology to solve problems.

IT Experiment I (Mechatronics)

We design behavior algorithms for intelligent robots to recognize information tags such as markers for spatial intelligence using cameras and infrared distance sensors, avoid obstacles, and achieve target movements, and verify their effectiveness in virtual and real spaces. In particular, we deepen our understanding of behavior design for intelligent robots through simulations and experiments with actual devices.
