Faculty Characteristics and Career Paths (School of Business)
FEATURES School of Business
With two departments, "Department of Business Administration" and "Department of Marketing," we aim to be a cutting-edge center for modern business management.
Aoyama Gakuin University 's School of Business has two departments: the "Department of Business Administration," which focuses on business perspectives, and the "Department of Marketing," which focuses on consumer perspectives.
The Department of Business Administration has a history of over 50 years. In Department of Business Administration, students learn a wide range of theories and practices in accounting, finance, and management that are necessary to succeed as business professionals.
The Department of Marketing is a new department established in 2009. In Department of Marketing, students will learn fundamental theories that are not swayed by trends, while also considering how people can live happy lives.
Furthermore, Aoyama Gakuin University School of Business places great emphasis on English language education, which is becoming increasingly important with the advancement of globalization. We offer a wide range of English language education in small classes that meet the needs of the times.
Students in School of Business can receive specialized education from faculty members in both Department of Business Administration and Department of Marketing, gaining a broad range of perspectives.
Study in the cutting edge of the IT industry and trends
Aoyama Campus is adjacent to Sibuya, the IT industry hub, and Omotesando, the trendsetting area. It is an ideal location for learning the latest in management and marketing.
Cultivate international communication skills
We also place emphasis on English education, offering a wide range of classes in small classes with detailed instruction to meet the needs of the times.
Affiliated research facilities support education and research
The Global Business Institute provides a repository of materials essential for business management research both in Japan and overseas. These materials are available to students and serve as an important resource for research activities.
ENGLISH CLASSES English Education
Cultivate reading comprehension, communication skills, and diverse values
English education is very important because you will need to read books and papers written in English at university. However, at Aoyama Gakuin University School of Business, we aim to provide an education that allows students to learn about different values and diverse ways of looking at things through the study of English.
In the first and second years, there are two compulsory English subjects: "Intensive English" and "Comprehensive English." Classes are relatively small, with around 20 to 25 students per class, and detailed lessons are given.
"English Intensive" is a course that focuses on reading comprehension, and aims to develop the ability to read English literature required for university classes. "English General" is a course that focuses on developing English communication skills, and aims to improve practical English skills. In addition, there are elective courses such as English conversation courses and courses that aim to further improve reading comprehension.
For those who will work in a profession that requires English language skills in the future, university English education will form the foundation for them. We believe that it is important for each individual to improve the English skills they acquired at university as needed after entering society.
On the other hand, even for those who will not need English in the future, university English education is meaningful. Language training sharpens logical thinking skills and gives you the ability to see things from a broader perspective. In that sense, I hope that students will make use of not only their English skills, but also their communication skills in a broader sense in the future.
Special Graduate Course Student System: Efforts to advance to graduate school
Special Graduate Course Student System
The Graduate School Special Course Registration System is a system that allows students to take graduate school lecture courses as a special course from their fourth year of undergraduate studies. By using this system, students can complete their studies in as little as five years, which would normally take six years (four years undergraduate and two years graduate), and obtain a bachelor's degree and a master's degree upon completion.
Advantages of this system
?It is possible to obtain a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in four years of undergraduate study plus one year.
?The credits earned will be recognized as credits required for completion of the graduate school upon enrollment.
?Examination subjects are document screening and oral examination only
?Even if you take graduate school lecture courses, you will only be charged tuition fees for your fourth year as an undergraduate student.
SBSL School of Business Student Leaders
SBSL stands for School of Business Student Leaders, which was established in 2009 and is an organization comprised of School of Business students. We are actively engaged in social contribution activities, mainly on campus volunteers.
In particular, we plan and manage the Friendship Meeting, which is a welcome event for new students at School of Business, and the School of Business booth at the Open Campus. At the Open Campus (Aoyama Online), which was held online due to the Corona disaster, we created a video for high school students. In addition, with the support of the School of Business Alumni Association, we are working every day to enliven and revitalize School of Business as a whole.
SBSL creates its own website introducing School of Business
As part of one of our activities, the "School of Business Promotion Project," we have created a unique website introducing School of Business.
We provide information from a student's perspective to high school students and new students who are considering entering School of Business at Aoyama Gakuin University.
