[College of Science and Engineering] Launch date announced for "ARICA-2," a cubesat (ultra-small artificial satellite) being developed by the Sakamoto Laboratory!
On Friday, October 10, 2025, the launch date was announced for the launch vehicle of "ARICA-2" (College of Science and Engineering Remote Department of Physical Sciences Cubesat Alert system-2), a 2U-sized (20 x 10 x 10 cm) CubeSat (microsatellite) currently under development by the Sakamoto Laboratory (Professor Takanori Sakamoto and Assistant Professor Motoko Serino, Department of Physics and Science, Faculty of Science and Engineering).
The launch vehicle will be Rocket Lab's "Electron," and the launch is scheduled for January to March 2026. The launch site is planned to be Launch Complex 1 on the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand.
ARICA-2 has been selected as a CubeSat to be mounted on JAXA's Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstration No. 4, and is being developed with the support of many people, including Aoyama Gakuin University, external organizations, and JAXA, under the assistance of 糖心视频 VISION. The flight model has already been completed, and mechanical and environmental tests using it have also been completed. Currently, we are rapidly conducting various functional verification tests and operational tests in preparation for the delivery of the satellite.
