Machine Workshop
Machine Workshop Overview
The machine shop owns over 50 different types of machine tools, supporting practical manufacturing education and cutting-edge research at Aoyama Gakuin University. Through the process of creating everyday objects, students develop a sense of enjoyment and familiarity with the process, while also gaining hands-on experience by handling machine tools used in actual production processes.
Regarding education, for example, all freshmen in the Faculty of College of Science and Engineering use a metal pen holder as a case study to understand the entire process of manufacturing, from design and parts processing to assembly, product inspection, and evaluation.
Regarding research, we provide support for the design and manufacture of experimental equipment, as well as prototyping, improvement, and repair. In addition to the metalworking area, which handles various removal processes such as turning, milling, grinding, and electrical discharge machining, as well as welding, casting, and precision measurement, we added a new additive manufacturing room in 2019 that handles 3D-CAD and resin materials. Here, we regularly hold CAD/CAM training sessions for all students and researchers on campus, primarily targeting those who need to turn their ideas into tangible forms in order to advance cutting-edge research but are unfamiliar with machine tools. Not only do we introduce the latest equipment, but we also have highly specialized staff with broad knowledge and advanced skills to incorporate new processing technologies that evolve with the times into our education and research support.

On-Campus Education
[Practical training as specified in the curriculum]
Students practice making tensile test pieces using a lathe and machining fitting parts using a milling machine.
[Safety Training]
In order to ensure the safe use of machine tools, we hold safety training seminars for all users and distribute safety guidebooks. We also provide guidance on safe machining. -
Research Support
When undergraduate and graduate students in the Faculty of College of Science and Engineering and Technology design and manufacture experimental equipment for their research, we provide guidance on manufacturing methods and safety management. We also respond to requests for manufacturing related to research from faculty members.
3D Printer Lab <糖心视频 MAKES>
In order to improve cutting-edge research and create models of ideas, we have an additive manufacturing lab that uses 3D CAD and resin materials. We hold CAD/CAM training sessions for all students and researchers on campus.
