Educational and research objectives and three policies
We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives and three policies of the Graduate Graduate School of International Politics, Economics and Communication Department of International Economics, Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School.
Educational and research objectives
The goal of Department of International Economics is to equip students with the ability to grasp international economic phenomena theoretically, analyze them empirically, and solve various international economic problems.
Three Policies for the Master's Program

Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)
■ Knowledge and skills
Possess advanced specialized knowledge in the field of international economics and excellent language proficiency necessary to conduct specialized research on issues arising in the international community.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students will have the ability to acquire the academic thinking and methods necessary to conduct specialized research on various issues in the international community from the perspective of international economics, to correctly understand them from an academic standpoint, to consider them logically and critically, to analyze them accurately, and to propose and implement solutions to those issues.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Have the motivation, interest, and attitude to apply advanced academic knowledge in the field of international economics to resolve various issues facing the international community. -
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
Department of International Economics has developed an educational curriculum to ensure that students have acquired the following academic abilities by the time they complete the course.
Department of International Economics offers an educational program that aims to equip students with the ability (including high language skills) to theoretically grasp various issues in the international economy, use appropriate analytical methods, conduct empirical analysis, and find practical solutions.
The program consists of foundational subjects (Group A) that cover the fundamental areas of international economics, and specialized subjects (Group B) that focus on application. Group A is centered on economic theory, game theory, and statistical analysis methods. Group B covers applied subjects such as trade, finance, public policy, development economics, environmental economics, and regional economics.
In specialized subjects, many foreign language documents are used as teaching materials and prior research when writing papers, and students develop the language skills necessary to acquire specialized knowledge in international economics.
We will place emphasis on contributing to the resolution of real-world problems, and will establish a leadership system that will enable us to focus on research into the international economic policies of developed countries and the economic issues of developing countries. -

Possess the university-graduation level knowledge and language skills necessary to understand, consider, and analyze trends and states of the international community from an economics perspective.

Possess the ability to think, judge, and express oneself independently based on university-graduation level knowledge and language skills.

-I am interested in the state of international society, particularly from the perspective of the international economy.
-Aspires to conduct specialized academic research on international economics.
-Working adults with work experience are those who aim to improve their skills by academically examining their own work experience and who have the abilities required to conduct specialized academic research at graduate school.
Three Policies for the Doctoral Program

Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)

Possess the highly specialized knowledge necessary to write a doctoral dissertation on a specific topic in international economics.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students are expected to have the ability to write a doctoral thesis on a specific topic in international economics, to have acquired the academic thinking and methods necessary for the thesis to be recognized in the prescribed examination process as making a new academic contribution in terms of theory, analytical methods, empirical evidence, etc., and to tackle problems in international economics as an independent researcher or expert and to generate new academic knowledge.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Have the motivation, interest, and attitude to generate new academic knowledge in the field of international economics in order to solve various problems in the international community. -
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
Department of International Economics aims to develop individuals who meet the desired quality, and has established an educational curriculum that enables students to write doctoral dissertations and pass the required examinations.
This program provides a system in which students can select an individual topic important to understanding the modern international economy and conduct highly specialized research under the guidance of a supervisor and other faculty members in related fields.
In the process of writing a doctoral dissertation, we will provide coursework to help students gain in-depth specialized knowledge and specialized seminar subjects that will provide research advice to improve students' ability to conduct original research.
