About the Research
The purpose of this course is to cultivate the advanced research abilities and rich academic knowledge that are the foundation for students to be able to conduct independent research activities as researchers in the field of Comprehensive Cultural Policy Studies, or to engage in highly specialized work in interdisciplinary fields related to Comprehensive Cultural Policy Studies. Students therefore take foundational subjects as well as specialized subjects focusing on their own research field and related fields. They will then select a research supervisor at the beginning of the fall semester of their first year and complete their supervisor's research seminars (I-III) and research guidance (I-VI).
Research seminars are conducted through research projects supervised by the research advisor and involving multiple full-time faculty members, external researchers and practitioners, and research guidance is provided by a "Research Guidance Committee" consisting of the research advisor and two other full-time faculty members. Students take the "Promotion Qualification Exam" in the fall semester of their second year, and if they do not pass the "Promotion Qualification Exam", they cannot take the research guidance course. In the third year, students submit a research plan review, in the fourth year they submit an interim report, and in the fifth year they take a final report review, a doctoral thesis review, and a final exam.
