Educational and research objectives and three policies
We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives, educational policy, and three policies of the Graduate Graduate School of Literature Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School, Department of Japanese Literature and Language.
Educational and research objectives
In Department of Japanese Literature and Language, we aim to cultivate talented people who will be well-educated, have excellent personalities, and be reliable members of society with the ability to make their own judgments, through specialized academic research methods in Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature.
In the Master's Program, students will develop in-depth academic knowledge and specialized research skills in their specialized fields, as well as logical composition and written expression skills.
The doctoral program aims to train students who can take an international and interdisciplinary perspective, add new knowledge through original methods in their specialized fields, and as a result become independent experts in their fields and work in various educational and research institutions, thereby contributing to the advancement of research and culture.
Three Policies for the Master's Program

Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)
■ Knowledge and skills
They have acquired knowledge of Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature), and have acquired the ability to view Japanese language, literature, and culture in an overview.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
They have acquired advanced logical construction and writing skills that enable them to identify their own research topic and convey the knowledge they have gained through sound research to others in an objective and persuasive manner.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
With a strong sense of awareness and responsibility as individuals who have acquired specialized academic knowledge and research abilities, they are motivated to tackle the various issues facing modern society and contribute actively to the advancement of human culture. -
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
■ Knowledge and skills
Through specialized departmental education subjects, students will acquire specialized knowledge and advanced research methods in Japanese literature, Japanese language linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature), as well as the ability to view Japanese language, literature, and culture in an overview.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Through collecting, reading, analyzing, and discussing materials and works, students will deepen their understanding of their own research topic and acquire advanced logical construction and writing skills to persuasively communicate the results of their research to others.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Students will sincerely tackle research topics that they have set for themselves and develop an attitude of wanting to contribute proactively to the advancement of their own research field and human culture. -

Students have acquired comprehensive and systematic basic knowledge of Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature).
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Possess logical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and high level Japanese reading and expression skills to gather, read, analyze, present, and discuss information on specialized topics.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
He has a deep interest in Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature), and has a strong desire to explore the truth of humanity and contribute to society through his understanding and research.
Three Policies for the Doctoral Program

Students have acquired in-depth academic knowledge of Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language education, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature), and have acquired advanced specialized knowledge that enables them to view Japanese language, literature, and culture from a broad, international and interdisciplinary perspective.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students have acquired solid logical construction skills and fluent writing skills that enable them to persuasively communicate knowledge gained through original ideas and methods to researchers in their field of expertise and related fields.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
They have a strong sense of self-reliance as independent researchers and are motivated to contribute to their field of expertise, and through that, to fulfill their social responsibilities and take the lead in contributing to the advancement of human culture. -

Through the "Research Guidance Seminar," students will acquire specialized knowledge and advanced research methods in Japanese literature, Japanese linguistics, Japanese language pedagogy, and classical Chinese literature (Chinese literature), as well as the ability to view Japanese language, literature, and culture in a comprehensive manner.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Through "Research Guidance Seminars" and the preparation and writing of doctoral dissertations, students will acquire advanced research abilities that will enable them to discover new research topics and pioneer unknown research areas, as well as advanced logical construction and writing skills that will enable them to persuasively communicate their findings to researchers in their field and related fields.

Through the "Research Guidance Seminar" and the preparation and writing of the doctoral dissertation, students will sincerely tackle the research topic they have set for themselves and develop an attitude of wanting to contribute actively to the advancement of their own research field and human culture. -
