Master's Program

This is a virtually compulsory course for first-year students, and teaches methods for searching legal literature and the basics of foreign law. |
| Foundation subjects: Research Methodology IB |
Based on Research Methodology IA, participants will give in-depth reports on cases or literature they have independently selected, and hold discussions with relevant faculty members. |
| Foundation subjects: Comprehensive Private Law Seminar |
Through omnibus-style lectures by faculty members specializing in private law, students will analyze the current state of and issues facing Japanese law. |
| Specialized Subjects: Research in each specialized field |
There are many applied and developed courses in the field of private law, including civil law, commercial law, civil procedural law, international private law, labor law, economic law, copyright law, and the history of Western law, depending on the specialization of each graduate student. |
| Specialized Subjects: Reading foreign books, research and practice in French law, German law, and EU law |
Comparative law is essential for the study of each law. To do so, students need to be able to read and understand legal documents in each field in a foreign language, as well as have a good grasp of comparative law. This course is designed to help students acquire these skills. |

Unlike other courses that anyone can take, supervisors provide individual guidance to their students for two years, with the aim of helping them write a thorough master's thesis. |
