Educational and research objectives and three policies
We would like to introduce the educational and research objectives and three policies of Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School Graduate School of Law Department of Business Law.
*The doctoral program will no longer accept students from 2018.
Educational and research objectives
Department of Business Law is aimed primarily at employed people, and aims to equip them with business law literacy, primarily in the field of tax law, and to provide research guidance on issues in that field from both legal and business, and theoretical and practical perspectives, thereby nurturing the ability to apply legal theory to business practice, and thereby to produce professionals with advanced legal thinking and practical skills.

Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)
■ Knowledge and skills
- Have mastered basic concepts and theories in the field of business law.
- Have systematically acquired legal theories or comparative law research methods in each legal field related to the business law field.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
They have acquired the ability to thoroughly analyze, examine, and apply theories and practices related to the field of business law, focusing on their area of specialization.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Through the study of specialized education, students will acquire the rational thinking skills required for law, be able to make rational decisions in legal practice, and be able to identify problems and actively tackle them in research. -
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
Aiming to develop members of society who have advanced specialized knowledge and can take on legal practice, the program offers "basic subjects" to learn what is necessary to develop basic skills, including techniques and methodologies, as well as "specialized subjects" and "related subjects" to learn legal principles in each legal field. In addition, the program offers "seminar subjects" to develop the ability to analyze, examine and apply theories and practices related to the business law field through writing a dissertation.

- We have undertaken groundbreaking research in the field of business law, achieving significant results.
- As a foundation for my research, I have acquired knowledge gained through an internship in the field of business law.

Based on fundamental concepts, basic theories, the purpose of important institutions in the field of business law, prior achievements, case law, and legislative examples from other countries, one can examine key individual points or the theory as a whole using one's own logical and rational thinking, and express the results to the outside world in a logical and persuasive manner.
■Motivation, interest, and attitude
Based on the Christian principles that underpin Aoyama Gakuin University, students are expected to show understanding and compassion for the circumstances and feelings of others in their daily lives.

Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
■ Knowledge and skills
We will create programs based on the Business Doctor Training Program, Legal Risk Management Doctor Training Program, Intellectual Property Clinic Doctor Training Program, and Financial Doctor Training Program. Each doctor training program will provide internships and research guidance necessary for each training objective.

Each program allows students to gradually meet the doctoral degree requirements by acquiring internship and research supervision credits each academic year.

In the doctoral program, students are required to report on their research at an interim presentation every year, regardless of whether they submit a doctoral thesis or not. In preparation for the presentation, students are instructed to make an effort to read as much related literature, both domestic and international, focusing on their research field, so that they can use their own logical and rational thinking to examine key individual points or theories as a whole, while taking into account basic concepts, basic theories, previous achievements, case law, and legislative examples from other countries in the field of business law.

An attitude that respects and fully understands previous achievements and the theories of others, and is then able to express one's own logical and rational views on each point to the outside world without contradiction. -
