Educational and research objectives

Department of Economics aims to foster free and independent students who can comprehensively study economics from three perspectives: theory, policy, and history, and who can independently analyze real-world economic problems with flexible thinking and action.

Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)

■ Knowledge and skills
- Have a comprehensive understanding of economics from the perspectives of theory, policy, and history.
- Have the ability to apply the acquired specialized knowledge to everyday life or to smoothly transition to specialized learning at graduate school level.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
You will be able to analyze the various problems that arise in the real economic society.

■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Have a strong will and drive, and are eager to take the initiative and contribute to society.

Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)

In order to study economics comprehensively and to develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the curriculum is designed to categorize subjects into two categories, "basic subjects" and "major subjects," in the three courses of "Theory and Quantitative Studies," "Applied Economics," and "History and Philosophy," and to allow students to develop expertise through gradual learning. The basic subjects in the first year build a foundation in economics, and the major subjects build on that foundation to deepen a systematic academic understanding. Each subject spans a variety of academic fields, and the system allows students to study while keeping their future careers in mind.

Admission Policy

Students who understand the content of Japanese language, foreign language, geography and history, civics, mathematics, etc., have high school graduation level knowledge.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability

?Ability to consider things from multiple perspectives and logically, and form one's own opinion.

■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Students will understand the characteristics of the department, have an interest in language, culture, literature, history, human beings, thought, local areas, society, etc., and have the desire to pursue these interests through their studies at university and to contribute to society.
