The concept of family centers around normative notions of gender and social structure. The aim of this project is to propose a revision of the concept of family that is better suited for the actual family structures observed in contemporary society. It has two elements: the construction of an academic analysis, and its expression via traditional academic means and simultaneously via an art installation. The latter will help convey the results of the analysis to a much broader audience than standard methods of research presentation in academic environments, and in itself represents a novel approach to research dissemination.
